North and South basketball teams split victories during Eastern’s 44th annual Kiamichi All-Star Classic


WILBURTON, OK (May 31, 2016) – The North and South teams split the victories in the basketball games during Eastern Oklahoma State College’s 44th annual Kiamichi All-Star Classic on May 27.

The Kiamichi All-Star Classic games began with the North girls’ team, coached by Melinda Dobson of Stuart, winning by a significant 83-45 margin over the South team, coached by Casey Butcher of Red Oak. The North girls’ MVP was Desiree Moon of Vian who scored 14 points during the game. The MVP of the South girls’ team was Tori Gillespie of Kiowa who scored 10 points.

The South boys’ team, coached by Brad McKnight of Calera, narrowly defeated the North team, coached by Jim Jenson of Kinta, pulling a 91-87 win. The South boys’ MVP was KJ Wells of Idabel who scored 25 points, and the North MVP was Trey Reeves of Muldrow who scored 15 points.

Kaylee Matthews of Warner was the winner of this year’s three-point shooting contest. The slam dunk contest winner was Rowdy Yates of Boswell.

The softball and baseball All-Star Classic games have been postponed to Saturday, June 4 at noon and 2 p.m. due to weather conditions.
