EOSC Theatre to present family-friendly “The Commedia Tales of King Arthur” Feb. 20


WILBURTON, OK (Feb. 16, 2015) – The Eastern Oklahoma State College Theatre Department will present a family-friendly comedy for thousands of school children this week and one public performance on Friday, Feb. 20 at 6 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium.

“The Commedia Tales of King Arthur” by Lane Riosley is commedia dell’arte, Italian for “comedy of the professional artists,” and is a form of theatre characterized by masked actors. The popular form of improvisational theatre began in Italy in the 15th century and continued in its appeal for centuries.

The Eastern cast will perform several matinees for more than 1,500 area school children Tuesday through Friday and conclude with the public performance on Friday night.

“The Commedia Tales of King Arthur” is directed by Marshall Carby, EOSC theatre director and humanities instructor. The cast includes Kaylinn Dawson of Haileyville as Rosetta; Hannah Truitt of Wilburton as Arlequin; Jordan Simpson of Jonesboro, Arkansas as Punchin; and Reanna Morgan of Antlers as Columbine.

Admission is $2 and free for Eastern students with an EOSC ID.
