Eastern's Jerry Hurt earns Region II honors


WILBURTON (February 7, 2017) –  Eastern Oklahoma State College basketball's Jerry Hurt was named the NJCAA Region II Player of the Week for  Jan. 30 through Feb. 5.

Hurt, a sophomore guard from Memphis, Tenn., averaged 30.0 points per game while adding 2.5 rebounds and one steal per game for the week. He currently leads the team in points per game, 3-point shooting percentage, and steals. Nationwide, Hurt ranks first for points per game and 19th in 3-pointers made.

Hurt and the Mountaineers will next take to the court on Thursday, Feb. 9, as they travel to Altus, Okla., to take on Western Oklahoma State College before returning home to face off against Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Monday, Feb. 13, in Wilburton.
