Eastern’s 2018 FFA Interscholastic Contest set for March 30-31


WILBURTON, OK (Feb. 22, 2018) – Eastern Oklahoma State College will host the FFA Interscholastic Contest at the Wilburton campus on Friday, March 30. The Livestock Judging Contest will take place on Saturday, March 31 in the Goddard Building, also located in Wilburton. Area members of FFA and 4-H are both invited to participate in Saturday’s contest.

Friday’s competition will consist of teams and individuals competing in a number of written and oral exams covering a wide range of topics including farm business management and floriculture, among others. An agriculture shop competition will also test the top five teams on skills such as welding.

The Livestock Judging Show consists of eight classes of livestock including cattle, swine, sheep and goats, with oral reasons given on four classes. Separate contests are planned for FFA and 4-H, and both contests are split into junior and senior divisions.

Starting new in 2018, FFA chapter advisors will need to visit judgingcard.com to pre-register for the contest. Pre-registration is open now through March 16. Advisors of participating 4-H Clubs will pre-register by contacting Jena Braun at jbraun@eosc.edu or 918-465-1724. Teams and individuals who do not pre-register will report to Baker Hall, room 100 to pick up contest packets and pay late registration.
