Eastern to host 87th annual Candlelighting program Dec. 11


The Candlelighting program has been rescheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. due to winter weather conditions across the state.

WILBURTON, OK (Dec. 2, 2013) – The Eastern Oklahoma State College Music Department will present its 87th Annual Candlelighting program at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8 in Mitchell Auditorium.

The program will feature performances by the Eastern Concert Choir and Concert Band. Dr. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will direct the performance. Carissa Hendrix will serve as the co-director and accompanist.

“We are very pleased with this year’s Candlelighting production and are honored to present this event which has grown to be so meaningful for Eastern and the community,” Brandon Hendrix said. “We invite everyone to come and be part of such a special program.”

The performance will include a variety of holiday selections including “Deck the Halls,” “The Many Sounds of Christmas,” “The Legend of Greensleeves,” “O Come Emmanuel,” “’Twas the Night Before Christmas,” “Carol of the Bells,” “O Holy Night,” and more.

Performers include Lacy Dunlap, Justin Humphreys, Glen Kendrick and Dekayetlynn Wilson of Wilburton; Shirlene Green, Hartshorne; Patricia Craig, McAlester; Joshua Few, Stigler; Matthew Little, Clayton; Jesseca Shipman, Kiowa; Lecie Murray, Caney; Jeremy Baker, Yukon; and Kevin Anderson, Norman.

The concert is free and open to the public.
