Eastern student-athletes honored by NJCAA for academic achievements


WILBURTON, OK (June 28, 2012) – Four Eastern Oklahoma State College student-athletes have earned recognition from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) for their excellence in the classroom.

Softball player Katrina Brewer of Shawnee is a Superior Academic Achievement honoree with her 3.81 grade point average (GPA). Baseball players Tyler Crabtree of McAlester (3.75 GPA) and Michael Freeman of Broken Arrow (3.65 GPA) earned Exemplary Academic Achievement honors. Basketball player Skylar Burris of Broken Bow also earned Exemplary Academic Achievement honors for her 3.67 GPA.

The NJCAA selected more than 1,680 student-athletes from across the nation for individual academic honors. Nearly 60,000 student-athletes competed in the NJCAA for the 2011-2012 academic year on over 3,500 teams in 28 different sports. This is the 29th year the NJCAA has recognized the academic success of its student-athletes.
