Eastern set to play in Region II baseball tournament in Midwest City


Eastern Oklahoma State College pitcher Austin Kerns is this year’s Region II Player of the Year.
WILBURTON (May 4, 2015) – Eastern Oklahoma State College is currently tied for second place in Region II baseball and will have a chance to compete in the first round of the championship tournament on May 7 at noon in Midwest City.

Eastern is tied with Connors State College with a Region II record of 14-6. Seminole State College is ranked first with a regional record of 15-5 after beating Rose State in four consecutive games. Eastern’s only losses this year come from Connors, Seminole, and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M.

“We feel like we are playing as well as we have all year,” said Craig Price, Eastern’s head baseball coach.
The Mountaineers overall record is 29-20 with a home record of 18-8. The team has played very well and had eight players named to the All-Conference Team. Austin Kerns, a freshman from Owasso, earned Player of the Year in Region II.

The Region II Tournament will take place May 7-10 at Rose State College in Midwest City. Eastern will play NEO A&M in the first round and will host the district tournament in Wilburton if they win the region. EOSC has won Region II three times in the past five years.
