Eastern Music Department to present Fall Concert Oct. 12
WILBURTON, OK (Oct. 4, 2017) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Music Department will present its annual Fall Concert Oct. 12 at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium in Wilburton.
Dr. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will lead his students in this display of talent. The evening will feature classically-themed performances by the Concert Band and Concert Choir. The Eastern Expressions, the student-led rock group formed in 2014, will also be performing and have selected an assortment of contemporary hits.
The Concert Band will open the show with a variety of selections including an original composition by Dr. Hendrix titled “Ouachita Valley.” The Concert Choir will follow with performances including Jay Althouse’s “Like the Beat of a Drum” and Mozart’s “Ave verum corpus.”
The Eastern Expressions will close the evening with their renditions of MercyMe’s “I Can Only Imagine” and Linkin Park’s “What I’ve Done,” among others.
Students performing this year include Leila Aaron, Brianna Caldwell, Joshua Johnson, Marra Juarez and Dekayetlynn Wilson of Wilburton; Kevin Talley of Broken Bow; Robert Krouse and Rebecca Needham of Clayton; Chris Ainsworth of Gowen; Tyler Sheppard of Hartshorne; Nicholos Martindale of Howe; Victoria Davison and Nathan Minyard of Quinton; Kaycie Cabrera and Hannah Posey of McAlester; Dale Shackleford of Slaughterville; Clay Hawes of Talihina and Nikita Wemmerus of Wister.
