Eastern Music Department to present 92nd annual Candlelighting Dec. 6


WILBURTON, OK (Nov. 27, 2018) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Music Department will present its 92nd annual Candlelighting program Thursday, Dec. 6 at 7:00 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The program provides an opportunity for the Eastern community and area community to convene and welcome the holiday season. The event is one of the oldest traditions at Eastern and will feature performances by the Concert Band, Concert Choir and Eastern Expressions. The event will conclude with the singing of “Silent Night” and the customary lighting of candles.

Dr. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will lead the Concert Band and Concert Choir in this display of talent. The groups will perform a selection of classic numbers including “Let It Snow,” “Where Are You, Christmas,” “Santa Baby,” and “O Holy Night.” The Concert Choir will also debut Dr. Hendrix’s arrangement of “What Child is This.”

Students involved in the production include Leila Aaron, Triston Boling, Miguel Brown, Hannah Gockel, Bobbi Kirkland, Charles Sorrell and Brianna Stockton of Wilburton; Jessica Kalstad, Lillith Martin and Hannah Posey of McAlester; Ryan Stockton of Ada; Christian Scarberry of Clayton; Victoria Davison and Logan Ervin of Quinton; Dale Shackleford of Slaughterville; Josh Cole of Spiro, Zane Jacobson of Talihina; Caden Phillips of Tuskahoma; Nikita Wemmerus of Wister and Lucinda Roberts of Yanush.
