Eastern Music Department to present 91st Annual Candlelighting Nov. 30


WILBURTON, OK (Nov. 27, 2017) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Music Department will present its 91st Annual Candlelighting program Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7:00 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium. Admission is free and open to the public.

The program provides an opportunity for the Eastern community and area community to convene and welcome the holiday season. The event is one of the oldest traditions at Eastern and will feature performances by the Concert Band, Concert Choir and Eastern Expressions. The event will conclude with the customary lighting of candles.

Dr. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will lead the Concert Band and Concert Choir in this display of talent. The groups will perform a selection of classic numbers including “Jingle Bells,” “Let It Snow,” and “White Christmas.” The Eastern Expressions will also perform a selection of holiday-themed melodies including “Where Are You, Christmas?” and an instrumental rendition of “Carol of the Bells.”

Students involved in the production include Leila Aaron, Brianna Caldwell, Josh Johnson, Marra Juarez, and Dekayetlynn Wilson of Wilburton; Kaycie Cabrera and Hannah Posey of McAlester; Robert Krouse and Rebecca Needham of Clayton; Victoria Davison and Nathan Minyard of Quinton; Kevin Talley of Broken Bow; Chris Ainsworth of Gowen; Tyler Sheppard of Hartshorne; Nicholos Martindale of Howe; Dale Shackleford of Slaughterville; and Nikita Wemmerus of Wister.
