Eastern Honors to recognize veterans at event on Nov. 11

WILBURTON, OK (Nov. 4, 2013) – Eastern Honors will host the annual Veterans Day Recognition on Monday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton.

Honors Program Coordinator Ruth Askew Brelsford said this year’s theme is “Our Veterans: Heroes with True Grit.”

“We are so pleased that the Latimer County Public Library is donating copies of the wonderful novel ‘Heroes with True Grit’ that we will be able to share with our veterans who attend the program,” Brelsford said.

The event will feature Eastern students who are veterans or are family members of veterans, as well as Honors speech students. Music will be provided by the Eastern music department under the direction of Dr. Brandon Hendrix. Punch and cookies and conversation will round out the event.

All veterans from all conflicts are invited to attend. As in years past, the Honors Program will purchase lunch from noon to 1 p.m. for all veterans. Brelsford said veterans should identify themselves as such when they arrive for lunch in the Student Center.
