Eastern Agriculture to host Women in Ag and Small Business Conference


WILBURTON, OK (June 27, 2018) — Agri-business and small business owners have the opportunity to attend an information-packed conference Friday, July 20 at Eastern Oklahoma State College’s McAlester Campus.  Participants will attend sessions such as Small Business Development and Small Business Grants, Aquaponics, Greenhouses and marketing of those products.

Other sessions will encompass Property Leasing including discussions on rates; legal and liability issues for hunting, recreation and grazing; Value Added Beef and the Vac 45 Program; New Tax Law and LLC’s; Marketing Through Social Media; Oil and Gas Updates; the Food Modernization and Home Bakery Act; Annie’s Project and Federal Cost Share Programs. Also, agri-tourism venue owners will offer a luncheon panel discussion.

In addition to serving as host, Eastern Oklahoma State College is a presenter of this unique opportunity. Other presenters include Ouachita Mountains R C & D, OSU Extension Service, Choctaw Nation Agricultural Outreach and the Southeast Oklahoma Conservation District. 

Women who are agricultural producers from 11 southeastern Oklahoma counties will also be honored, with one woman to be named Ag Woman of the Year.

Conference attendees will have the opportunity to peruse several exhibits and have a chance at winning a number of door prizes. Registration is open now through Friday, July 13 and costs $20, which includes lunch.
