Oklahoma Miner Training Institute

The Oklahoma Miner Training Institute (OMTI) is operated under the direction of the Oklahoma Mining Commission. The Institute, located at Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, provides training in all aspects of mine safety and health. Regularly scheduled classes are provided at the school, or at the mine sites throughout the state, to minimize the inconvenience to both miners and operators. All training provided by the Institute is free of charge to the mining companies who hold permits in Oklahoma.

In an attempt to be even more responsive to the mining industry, we offer training classes in several locations on a rotational schedule. OMTI’s Annual Refresher Class fulfills the requirements for MSHA, as well as the Oklahoma State Supervisor Refresher.

Annual Mine Health & Safety Conference

The 2021 Conference is scheduled for August 24-26, 2021 at the Choctaw Casino & Resort in Durant, OK.

OMTI sponsors an annual Oklahoma Mine Health and Safety Conference to provide the mining industry with greater health and safety awareness. Conference workshops address topics such as respirator use, electrical safety, workplace examination, bloodborne pathogens updates, powered haulage accident prevention, contractors working in mining operations, safety equipment demonstrations, drugs in the workplace, stress in the workplace, and waste/stockpile safety among others.
