Theatre Eastern to perform Neil Simon’s romantic comedy “Barefoot in the Park” Oct. 3-5
WILBURTON, OK (Sept. 18, 2014) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s first theatre production of the season will be Neil Simon’s hilarious play, “Barefoot in the Park.” Performances are set for Oct. 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. and Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium.
“Barefoot in the Park” is about a New York couple who decide to get married and live with each other despite not knowing one another very well.
“It is very light, funny and approachable,” said Marshall Carby, EOSC theatre director and instructor. “The students can identify with the play and it is interesting to see how the main characters balance their relationship.”
Carby said Simon is a great examiner of American people from a comedic standpoint and he brings a lighthearted form of laughter to his scripts. After performing Simon’s play “Rumors” last year, the Theatre Department decided to try another of the playwright’s scripts.
The cast of “Barefoot in the Park” include Reagan Brinlee of Wilburton as Corie Bratter; Jordan Allen of Indianola as Paul Bratter; Brekke Gammon of Vilonia, Ark. as Ms. Banks; Jordan Simpson of Jonesboro, Ark. as Victor Velasco; Ariel Coleman of Jonesboro, Ark. as the Telephone Repair Person; and Kaylin Dawson of Haileyville as the Delivery Person.
Admission is $5 for adults and is free for Eastern students with a valid EOSC ID.
