Eastern to host 88th annual Candlelighting program Dec. 7
WILBURTON (Nov. 21, 2014) – The of Eastern Oklahoma State College Music Department will present its 88th Annual Candlelighting program at 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 7 in Mitchell Auditorium.
The Candlelighting will feature performances by the Eastern Concert Choir, Concert Band and a new addition to the music department called Eastern Expressions. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will direct the performances of the choir and band. Carissa Hendrix will serve as the director for Eastern Expressions during the program.
“It is the 88th year that Eastern has celebrated the Christmas season with music, culminating with the lighting of candles,” said Brandon Hendrix. “We invite everyone to come and join us for this special night.”
The performances will include songs from a wide variety of holiday selections including “Mary, Did You Know?,” “Baby It’s Cold Outside,” “A Candle’s Light,” Frozen’s “Do You Want To Build a Snowman?” and many more.
Performers will include Lacy Dunlap, Dekayetlynn Wilson, Reagen Brinlee, Carissa Hendrix, and Chance Reeves of Wilburton; Mylan Johnson, Patricia Craig and Madeline Kraft of McAlester, Shirlene Green of Hartshorne; Samantha Sloan and Kylah Joyce of Crowder; Kalin Watkins of Valliant; Charline Morrison of Heavener; Jesseca Shipman of Kiowa; Trevor McBane of Savanna; Kyle Shelton of Checotah; Joshua Few of Stigler; and Ty Thompson of Poteau.
The concert is free and will be open to the public.
