Eastern splits games with NOC-Enid


WILBURTON, OK (Jan. 11, 2013) – The Eastern Oklahoma State College men’s and women’s basketball teams are both 11-5 after splitting games with Northern Oklahoma College-Enid on Thursday in Wilburton.

The Lady Mountaineers were only trailing the Lady Jets by one point at halftime with a score of 24-25. However, Eastern struggled in the second half and couldn’t repeat its 91 point scoring effort from last week. The Lady Jets pulled off the 54-41 win to tie Eastern and Northeastern Oklahoma State A&M College for first place in the conference. Sophomore Rodneisha Milum of Houston, Texas led the Lady Mountaineers with 14 points. Sophomore Shola Adebayo of Oklahoma City had eight rebounds and six assists, and freshman Shay Carter of Tulsa finished with six points and six rebounds.

The Mountaineers held on to a 44-36 halftime lead to defeat the Jets 85-76. Sophomores Ryan Devers of Tulsa and Rod Lewis of Memphis, Tenn. continued to lead the Mountaineers in scoring. Devers had 23 points and Lewis finished with 18 points.

Next up, Eastern faces Redlands Community College in El Reno on Jan. 14 before returning home to take on Western Oklahoma State College on Jan. 17. The women tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
