Eastern opens conference play with wins over rival Carl Albert
WILBURTON, OK (Nov. 22, 2013) – Eastern Oklahoma State College opened conference play with home wins over rival Carl Albert State College on Nov. 21.
The Lady Mountaineers defeated the Lady Vikings 75-60 after a strong performance by sophomore De’Amber Brice of Denton, Tex. Brice led the team with 20 points, 18 rebounds and 10 steals. Sophomore Kaya Johnson of Oakland, Calif. added 15 points and 14 rebounds. With the win, the Lady Mountaineers move to 6-1 on the season.
The undefeated Mountaineers moved to 7-0 with a 98-80 victory over the Vikings. Sophomores Dontavious Sears and Alfonzie Wilson, both from Memphis, Tenn., led team scoring with 24 points each. Sears had four three-pointers and 11 rebounds and Wilson had six three-pointers for the night. Sophomore Devaughn Purcell of Orlando, Fla. added 19 points for the Mountaineers.
Eastern will return home for a rare daytime game against Connors State College on Dec. 3. The women tip off at 11:30 a.m., followed by the men at 1:30 p.m.
