Eastern Oklahoma State College’s GEAR UP grant provides $117,000 in technology to area schools

WILBURTON, OK (Dec. 3, 2013) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s GEAR UP for Success grant has provided $117,000 in technology to 30 area schools. Each school received $3,900 to purchase technology of its choice for use in the classroom.

“We are pleased to be able to assist our partner schools,” explained GEAR UP Project Director Linda Morgan. “Eastern is partnering to provide tutoring, professional development for teachers, summer camps for cohort students, and much more.”

GEAR UP partner schools receiving technology include Antlers, Atoka, Bokoshe, Buffalo Valley, Canadian, Clayton, Crowder, Frink-Chambers, Haileyville, Hartshorne, Indianola, Keota, Krebs, LeFlore, McAlester, McCurtain, Moyers, Panama, Panola, Pittsburg, Quinton, Rattan, Red Oak, Savanna, Spiro, Stringtown, Talihina, Tannehill, Whitesboro and Wilburton.

Eastern received its second federal GEAR UP grant of $12.6 million in 2011 and is in its third year of implementation. Eastern has partnered with 30 area schools to provide students with additional educational opportunities.
