Eastern Music Department to present Fall Concert Nov. 1
WILBURTON, OK (Oct. 18, 2018) – Eastern Oklahoma State College’s Music Department will present its annual Fall Concert Thursday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Auditorium in Wilburton.
Dr. Brandon Hendrix, Eastern’s director of instrumental and choral ensembles, will lead his students in this display of talent. The evening will feature classically-themed performances by the Concert Band and Concert Choir. The Eastern Expressions, the student-led rock group formed in 2014, will also be performing and have selected an assortment of contemporary hits.
The Concert Band will open the show with a variety of selections including Blink 182’s “All the Small Things.” The Concert Choir will follow with performances including “Bridge over Troubled Water” by Simon and Garfunkel and Bill Wither’s “Lean on Me.”
The Eastern Expressions will close the evening with their renditions of Pink’s “Just Give Me a Reason” and Toto’s “Africa,” which was recently made popular again due to the release of Weezer’s cover.
Students performing this year include Leila Aaron, Triston Boling, Miguel Brown, Hannah Gockel, Kimberly Hawthorne, Bobbi Kirkland, Adam Lovenburg, Charles Sorrell and Brianna Stockton of Wilburton; Christian Scarberry of Clayton; Jessica Kalstad, Lillith Martin and Hannah Posey of McAlester; Victoria Davison of Quinton; Dale Shackleford of Slaughterville; Josh Cole of Spiro; Zane Jacobson of Talihina; Caden Phillips of Tuskahoma; Nikita Wemmerus of Wister and Lucinda Roberts of Yanush.
