Eastern knocks off Connors, ends 43-game home win streak


WILBURTON, OK (Jan. 27, 2012) – The 13th ranked Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers beat Connors State College 87-77 Thursday night in Warner, ending the Cowboys’ 43-game home winning streak.

Eastern sophomore Therone Chilton led the Mountaineers with 24 points and sophomore Marcus Tarrance finished the game with 16 points.

“Connors has an impressive basketball program and talented athletes,” said Eastern head coach Scott Edgar. “I’m really proud of our guys and how hard they’ve worked this season. This is a great achievement.”

The Mountaineers are now 18-2 and lead the conference standings at 6-2.

The Mountaineers and Lady Mountaineers return home Monday, Jan. 30 to take on Seminole State College. The women tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.
