Choctaw Nation executive to deliver keynote address at Eastern Commencement on May 5
WILBURTON, OK (April 13, 2017) – Eastern Oklahoma State College alumna Teresa Jackson will deliver the keynote address for this year’s Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 5 at 7 p.m. in the C.C. Dunlap Field House in Wilburton.
Approximately 275 students are eligible to participate in the 2017 Commencement Ceremony. The event will begin with a celebratory picnic at 5 p.m. in the amphitheater behind the Tourtellotte Student Center. Graduates’ friends and family are invited to join them for this free meal.
Jackson, of Hartshorne, has an extensive background in health services, including management, payroll and contract health. A Choctaw Tribal Member, she has worked for the Choctaw Nation for nearly 17 years.
She graduated from Eastern in 1985 with a degree in business administration and continued her education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Jackson was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus at Eastern’s 2016 Sapphire Ball.
After starting her career as an auditor with the IRS, Jackson joined the Choctaw Nation as a comptroller for the health system in 1999. She quickly progressed in her career as the chief financial officer, hospital administrator and now senior executive officer for Tribal Services. In addition, she is active on numerous boards and committees in the area. She currently serves as a member of the Eastern Board of Regents, the Inter-Tribal Health Council Committee and the Oklahoma City Inter Tribal Health Board.
